Kane Lawn & Garden was first established in 1971 by Robert C. Arnold. He was a 1968 graduate of Penn State University, with a degree in Turf Grass Management. His previous experience as the Superintendent of the Kane Country Club (1966-1968), and also that of Glenbrook Country Club in Poconos, PA (1960-1970) provided a good basis for his future endeavor.

Robert C. Arnold began part time operation of Kane Lawn & Garden in 1971, just (2) miles West of Kane on Route 6. In 1973, full time operation began with one building that served as the garden center with shrub beds in the front.

Kane Lawn & Garden was the only landscape service in the area that provided shrub trimming, grass mowing, roto-tilling, and lawn equipment sales. Mr. Arnold was one of the first nursery men in this area to use bark mulch. This bark mulch was trucked from Rolick's Sawmill down to the garden center, bulldozed into a pile, all free-of-charge. It was then used in landscapes. In 1972, the first company truck was purchased from Zook Motors, Inc. in Kane, PA. Three years later, a fertilizer building was constructed to supply fertilizer, seed, and other lawn and landscape products.

Kane Lawn & Garden was successfully operated by Robert C. Arnold from 1971-1995. The business was then purchased by David L. Conklin, a former employee of Bob's. Dave worked for Bob for a number of years while he attended Penn State University as well. During Dave's employment years at Kane Lawn & Garden he successfully completed a scholarship winning internship with Bob's teaching and assistance. Dave graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Science and Ornamental Horticulture.

In 1999, Kane Lawn & Garden underwent a significant expansion project. The nursery was expanded, providing a larger capacity of tree and shrub beds, additional roadways, a new irrigation system, and a new garden center building erected. A fleet of dump trucks, excavators, skid steers, and tractors formed. Concrete bins were constructed to hold bark mulch, ornamental rock, topsoil, and limestone. In 2002, a new maintenance building was added, as well as, retaining walls and patio designs displayed throughout the nursery.

Kane Lawn & Garden has grown through the years to become one of the leading lawn and landscape contractors in Northwestern Pennsylvania, possessing one of the largest garden centers in the area. This company provides a diversity of services which include commercial, residential, lawn, and landscape maintenance, landscape design and installation, hardscape installation, excavation work, and golf course construction.

Kane Lawn & Garden has grown from it's reputation for quality work, professional results, and customer satisfaction. We look forward to continuing that reputation by offering the best service available through team work.

We are thankful for the continued service provided by quality employees, help from family and friends, our faith, and the honor of living in the United States.
